Gone Fishin’ – Fathers Day at the Horseshoe Inn

By | Jun 9, 2010

Here’s an interesting suggestion for Father’s Day from the Horseshoe Inn near Peebles in the Scottish Borders

“Why not treat your old man to something a bit different?  A ‘Hook and Cook’ experience could be the perfect Father’s Day Treat.

The Horseshoe Inn has teamed up with Tweed Guide and the Kailze Fishery to give guests the opportunity to try their hand at fly-fishing…and then eat the results!

Participants in the event will be able to catch their own trout in the River Tweed and Kailze Fishery and, on their return to The Horseshoe Inn, have it cooked by head chef, Patrick Bardoulet.

The fishing will be supervised by professional fishermen from Tweed Guide, who will ensure that all fish are taken from sustainable stock. Tweed Guide are Scotland’s leading fly fishing authority. They offer a range of fishing packages throughout the year, as well as corporate fishing trips.

The lunch deal, which includes fishing and lunch, costs £59.50 per person and is available Tuesday to Friday. If you’re feeling flush or want to make the trip into a really special occassion then Bed & Breakfast is also available for £119.50 available Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday where you can dine in Bardoulet’s restaurant with a choice of menu from the Á la carte with a standard double room.

The Horseshoe Inn is run by Chef Patrick and his wife Vivienne. Opened in 2005 Bardoulet’s restaurant at the Horseshoe Inn has won AA Restaurant of the Year, Scotland and the coveted Gold Eat Scotland Award.
